THE BITE!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEN AND BECKY!!!!
ALTHOUGH WE DID NOT HAVE BECKY HERE WITH US, WE CELEBRATED BEN'S BIRTHDAY ON MONDAY EVENING 10/13. BEN WAS IN TOWN TO DO SOME TRAINING IN HIS KIND OF NEW PART TIME JOB AND STAYED WITH US. WE INVITED UNCLE DAVE AND AUNT SHIRLEY OVER FOR THE FESTIVITY AND CAKE. THE PICTURES BELOW SAY IT ALL. THE PERFECT CHOCOLATE DEATH CAKE ENDED UP LOOKING LIKE A BOWL OF CHOCOLATE SOUP AFTER BEN TOOK THE "BITE".
HE OBVIOUSLY HAS SET A NEW HUTCHINS STANDARD FOR THE BIRTHDAY BITE. WE LAUGHED SO HARD WE ALL HAD TO LINE UP AT THE BATHROOM LESS WE ALL PEED OUR PANTS.

WHAT DO YOU THINK HE FOUND DOWN THERE??? TRUTH BE KNOWN I TOLD HIM THERE WAS A FOLDED UP $100 BILL HIDDEN IN THE CAKE AND HE HAD TEN SECONDS TO FIND IT AND LIFT IT OUT WITH HIS MOUTH. AH, THE GOLDEN NAIL WORKS EVERY TIME!!!!

Ok... hold on here a second. Dad missed the original photo showing Sara and Emma SHOVING my head down to the bottom of the cake. After the damage was already done - I decided I mine as well have a little fun :) It was great evening.

Oh, now THAT's just not polite!
(Hee hee)
I'm a slight bit appalled at the prospect of sharing that cake around after Ben's head was through with it!
Did the name 'death by chocolate' live up to expectations?

Oh, wish I could have been there to get a good belly laugh. Haven't had one for a while. HOpefully Zach will provide me with some comic relief. Aunt Shirley and Uncle David looking good, where's Mom and Dad. Love you! Amy Jo

I KNEW it! I KNEW that golden nail never existed. Oh the childhood scars you have created. I need a therapist.

PS: Thanks for the birthday shout out. I really wished I could've been there in person. The video was a close second though - because I almost peed my pants.:)

This is what Rich wrote to me. I think it applies to so many things in life...not that it isn't great to have enthusiasm for sports, clothes, home, ect., but I would really like to see equal enthusiasm for the gospel. I wish that all would do a blog and be as excited about gospel items.

There has to be a sermon in this somewhere – A simple defiant moment taken almost 25 years ago has resulted in untold hundreds of cakes having faces smashed down into them. This is not even contained within the Hutchins geneology anymore either – as over the years those who’ve had friends over for birthdays have begun the tradition within their own homes as well.

Imagine if something worthwhile had been started on my 17th birthday – (go to the temple, read my PatBlessing, fast for a good cause) – and it had been rippled down in the same way – whoa, that would be cool. While I think it is funny (and can still be talked into participating by my children) it is food for thought as to how our decisions – good or bad, and well thought through or spur of the moment, can literally affect generations.

Hope you got a side piece of that cake to enjoy –

Love Rich

You just had to be there!! It was so funny--and as far as a piece of cake, your Mom cut all around the deep dent made by Ben's face. It was delicious--a very rich chocolate cake that would give you heart palpatations!! When I watched the video on Ben's blog, I laughed as hard then as I did the night of his birthday. Fun, Fun!!
